Open Gallery Download factsheetWith its distinctive Y-shape and the way it seems to float in the air, this hotel is truly unforgettable. It was built between 1968 and 1970 to a design by Annemarie and Hans Hubacher and Peter Issler, influenced by Scandinavian architects who were all the rage already back then. With its new interior-design concept for the renovation, the London office of HBA pays a fitting tribute to this Scandinavian style. Boasting handcrafted furniture and the finest fabrics from manufacturers such as Molteni, Pierre Frey, Altfield and Zimmer + Rohde, the interior designers have come up with a new twist on the 1970s character and charm. Where marble and wood featured previously, the same materials have been used once again. Contemporary design items such as Patricia Urquiola’s marble-inlay origami table are placed here and there to amaze and delight along the way.
Open GalleryIn the 1960s, the fashion was to build square dormitory blocks – but nothing was further from the minds of the architects who designed the Atlantis. It was intended to have just three floors and “brim with the atmosphere of a comfortable country house”. When it first opened, the hotel had 149 bedrooms. On old photos, there are features that still ring modern today – like the pool area, with its clean lines and shapes. Or the Ray-Eames-inspired armchairs and cantilever chairs. The hotel’s famous sausage salad, the pride of Zurich, was served in the Döltschistube, described at the time as the “cosy, rustic restaurant with its spacious summer terrace”. Steve McQueen and boxing legend Muhammad Ali stayed here already. And Freddie Mercury gave a private performance on the bar’s grand piano.

It comprises 68 sqm and without question, the Hublot Suite revives the theme of watches with its unusual design. For the first time, the Swiss watch maker company presents itself with its own suite in a hotel. The suite was designed by the Swiss company Studioforma. Black mirrors and large Hublot watches painted in pop art style alternate on the living room walls. The ceiling lamp in the centre of the room is made from bronze and aluminium and resembles the inner workings of a clock. Lamps and table reflect the design of Hublot boutiques. The suite just oozes a fable for watches.

Atlantis by Giardino is an urban retreat that promises the vibe of the city intimately accompanied by the rhythm of nature: it is just a rabbit’s hop to the Üetliberg forest and a short ride to the cultural hot spots, banks and boutiques of Zurich’s famous Bahnhofstrasse. Here, the calm of the forest and pastoral chime of distant cowbells goes hand in hand with perhaps the most urban view of Switzerland’s Alpine metropolis.
A wedding can be so much more than a glittering celebration – in the best case, it will become a precious piece of personal history. From the flower decorations to the wedding dress, from the music to the cake – every detail reflects the individual character of the bridal couple. At the Atlantis by Giardino this character is the main focus. Be it in detail, the decor, the service and the cuisine, everything expresses the wishes of the hosts. For a festivity that is exactly as distinctive as its guests.
